Canadian artist, and pop icon, Drake’s new album Views has topped the billboard 200 once again this week, for it’s eighth in a row, and he has an upcoming tour weeks away.
The Billboard top charts just recently began including streaming to determine it’s rankings. This is particularly good for R&B and hip-hop artists whose music is predominantly listened to through the streaming method. Drake’s new album sold over 124 thousand copies and has over 105 million streams thus far.
Drake is highlighted as an up and coming artist. He has released three new albums since 2015.
The artist has also announced the start of his Summer 16 tour set to kick off in Austin Texas. The tour premieres on July 20 at the Frank Erwin Center.
The beginning of this tour is also the start of a new “no meet and greet“ policy. Justin Bieber was the first to implement this policy after “security issues, “with fans, not to mention, the heartbreaking death of Christina Grimmie in Orlando FL.
Drake has made no comments on the decision, but is issuing refunds to attendees who purchased a VIP ticket with hopes of a photo opportunity.
The tour is also to include another popular hip-hop artist, Future, as well as OVO Sound signees Ray Woods and DVSN.
Event management is no walk in the park. From venue hunting to registration management, event promotion, and feedback evaluation, the workload can soon feel overwhelming.
